As the defamation trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard moves closer to its conclusion, there have been more people getting vocal about which side they believe based on the televised proceedings. Depp, who seems to be getting immense support from fans and observers of the trial, now has the backing of the women’s abuse organization Mission NGO. Founded by Valeria Altobelli, the international non-profit org has released a public statement in support of Depp.
“Violence is a serious topic,” Altobelli said in the statement. “As women, as mothers, we have the duty and the responsibility to educate our sons and daughters, that’s to say, the Future Generation, in the light of the values of dialogue, respect and compassion between men and women, without any gender distinction , in order to prevent violence with the weapons of love and education. In deep respect of the victims of domestic abuses that we have to affirm for intellectual honesty are, generally, WOMEN, we feel to express, as women, as mothers, as free thinkers, our compassion for Johnny Depp in this bad page of his personal history.”
An open letter signed by Altobelli goes on to add, “Mission NGO women from all over the world stand against domestic violence, regardless of gender, age or race. Our mission is to educate men and women, with no gender differences, to keep talking and living in the values of love, mutual comprehension and sensitivity in order to prevent all kinds of violence, against women against men, against children.”
“As women, we have compassion and we feel empathy not for THE star, THE talent, THE actor but for a man, a father, a worker, A HUMAN,” Altobelli explains. “Mental Health is something we have to care about to live in a positive environment where women and men can love and respect each other without any kind of abuse and violence. We are human and we have to find the HUMANITY we are born to live for “
Johnny Depp Has Many Fans On His Side, But Will He Win the Trial?
Fans and other celebrities have also weighed in on the trial to put their support behind Johnny Depp. Eva Green, the actor’s Dark Shadows co-star, recently posted an image of herself with Depp on Instagram while noting that her friend will “emerge with his good name and wonderful heart revealed to the world.” There have long been countless tweets with many, many fans online offering additional support, often using the hashtag #JusticeForJohnnyDepp.
Depp seems to have convinced a great many viewers of the trial, most of them, that he is innocent of the domestic abuse perhaps leveled at him by his ex-wife, Amber Heard. What will matter when it comes to winning, however, is convincing the individuals on the jury that he’d been defamed. Defamation cases are notoriously hard to win, but even if the actor’s case gets tossed, Depp’s reputation seems to have been improved as a result of the trial.
