Kentucky falls to Virginia in NCAA Men’s National Championship

UPDATE

The best season in Kentucky men’s tennis history came to a close today, as Virginia dominated today’s match en route to a 4-0 victory to claim the NCAA Men’s National Championship.

While the loss stings, there’s no question this was a very special run that these guys will remember for the rest of their lives.

Now, the NCAA Singles Tournament begins.

Liam Draxl, the No. 4 overall seed, will play at 7 pm ET Monday against Wake Forest’s Eduardo Nava, while Gabriel Diallo plays at 6:30 pm against Baylor’s Adrian Boitan, the No. 5 overall seeds.

A national championship is at stake today when the Kentucky Wildcats and Virginia Cavaliers face off in the NCAA Tournament Men’s Tennis Final.

After beating TCU on Thursday to advance to the program’s first Final Four, 4th-seeded Kentucky is in the final game after dominating Ohio State in Saturday’s action.

On the other side, 6th-seeded Virginia is in the final after cruising past Tennessee.

Earlier this season, Kentucky fell at home to Virginia 4-2. This will the second-straight rematch for the Cats after beating Ohio State 4-1 after the Buckeyes won the regular-season battle 4-0.

Today’s national title matchup will be played at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex at 4 pm ET in Champaign, Illinois. You can watch it live on the TennisONE App and follow along the NCAA.com live blog.
