Tomb Raider, Deus Ex Remakes and Remasters Could Come to PS5, PS4

The rapidly expanding holding company Embracer Group has snapped up franchises like Tomb Raider and Deus Ex for a song from Square Enix, and it’s already pondering ways it can put the series to work. Speaking as part of a financial report, the firm revealed that it sees “great potential” in its $300 million purchase – well, it wouldn’t have plumped up if it didn’t, would it?

Crucially it explains: “We see a great potential, not only in sequels, but also in remakes, remasters, spinoffs, as well as transmedia projects across the Group.” There is, of course, a new Tomb Raider title currently in development at Crystal Dynamics – but we wouldn’t say no to a few remasters to fill the time. It’s been a while since we played the likes of Tomb Raider Anniversary, but we sincerely miss old-school Lara Croft.

Embracer Group expects its acquisition to close sometime between July and September, so it’ll be a little while before it can start making firm plans for its new franchises. What would you like to see? Remember, the company will also own series like Legacy of Kain and Thief, all of which are ripe for remasters and re-releases, too!
